Eskom has applied to the National Energy Regulator (NERSA) for a tariff increase to recover R27bn loss from loadshedding. This tariff increase will see your electricity costs increase by up to 17% to carry Eskom's mismanagement. [click to have your say] NERSA has called for the public to comment before 20 Jan as part of the decision-making process, after which they will assess Eskom's application.
MASS PUBLIC PARTICIPATION IS ESSENTIAL TO INFLUENCE NERSA's DECISION.
Eskom's application must be challenged through mass public participation.
If we allow Eskom to succeed, we will see a substantial jump on current tariffs. However, as the increase is over and above their annual tariff hikes, in reality, your electricity costs will double within two years.
We cannot allow this to happen.
I urge you to please have your say and support the fight against these ridiculous increases. Our country, its people and businesses cannot afford to carry Eskom's incompetence through crippling energy costs.
A win against Eskom's application will be of significant value to you and all South Africans.
