*THE HUMANOID IS NOW FOR SALE IN THE US*

Hello

For many months, now, industrial-grade remote controlled robots have been finding their way into public spaces. I’ve seen inventory robots, food carrying robots, and robots that paint the lines of soccer boundaries in park fields. So far, none of them have been Humanoid.

However, Unitree has begun selling their Humanoid machines in the US. And as far as I know, Unitree appears to be the first company to sell them - or at least at prices that could be considered consumer friendly (their models range from $100,000 down to about $5,000.00. (link to sales page) )

It’s easy to feel somewhat sedated at this moment. Their sales page presents them in an innocuous manner - it surrounds them with all the branding of a perfectly efficient product. They seem as sleek and well packaged as a Jobsian iPhone.

But this new product marks a major deviation in the shared reality of all people.

We, the first inventors of tools, have apparently forgotten what a tool is - or should be.  And in lieu of a clear higher vision, it seems likely that these machines will default to their obvious, dangerous uses of 'public safety,' 'military,' and 'security' - as well as show-pony's for companies to gain greater and greater control over the robotics industry.

Please consider sharing this petition - and thank you for signing.

Sincerely,

Michael Christensen-
