Homeowners Against Owens Glen
All, thank you so much for supporting your community by signing this petition. We collected 253 signatures!
Unfortunately, the Owens Glen subdivision was approved by the Greenville County Planning commission in a 3 to 6 vote on August 28th, despite major road concerns and conflicting Land Use maps.
The developer, Forestar (DR Horton) now has (2) years to figure out the infrastructure and submit for final approval. Property deals were stated to close July 2025.
On a positive note, Greenville County Council may deny Forestar the sewer easement they need across County owned property that used to be the old landfill on Owens Rd. Councilman Ennis Fant commented on this in an interview with Kennedi Harris on Fox Carolina -
What we can still do for our community:
1) E-mail Ennis Fant and thank him for his stance on this and his support of denying the sewer easement.
2) Support the Piedmont Alliance and the Piedmont Area Plan which will utilize Land Use maps to protect the Rural Areas in our community from overdevelopment in the Long Term. The Piedmont Area Plan encourages 'Smart Growth' and preservation of Natural Resources and the plan is specific to the Piedmont Community. You can keep up with them (and the schedule of meetings for this plan to be adopted) on Facebook. The next county meeting is set for September 25th with the Planning Commission.

3) Continue to email County Council and Planning Commission members regarding your concerns over road conditions and the overdevelopment of Piedmont. Ask them to support the Piedmont Area Plan.
