Update: List of Discriminatory University Programs and CAA Letter

Hi all,
We sent a letter (below) to the CAA on January 11, 2023 and are waiting for a response. In the meantime, we are seeing some positive changes from the CAA that seems to be in alignment with some of our requests. I'll post another update about that soon.
Additionally, the LGBTQ+ CSD Student association has posted a list of university programs with histories of discrimination against TLGBQ+ students. Please share with undergraduate students, especially those applying to grad programs. https://lgbtqcsdsa.org/2022/11/18/discriminatory-universities-list/
Letter to the CAA:
"Dear Dr. Mary Sue Fino-Szumski and standards subcommittee of the CAA,
We are writing in regard to our petition asking the CAA to better uphold their nondiscrimination values in relation to the TLGBQ+ community. The petition has received over 1300 signatures in support. SLPs, AuDs, CSD faculty, students, and members of the public who have signed the petition do not support the CAA's continuation of accreditation of discriminatory programs and curriculum. In our conversations with ASHA CEO Vicky Deal-Williams, she suggested we advocate for changes by engaging the membership. Our petition and work with the Multicultural Issues Board (MIB) are ways we are doing this. The petition has demonstrated support for reassessing and strengthening the standards of the CAA related to non-discrimination. What actions can we expect from the CAA? We are requesting a timely response to our petition. In the meantime, we will continue to fight for a safer educational environment for all.
Best,
Charlie"
