Thanks everyone who signed this petition. Now that we have reached 1000 signatures I will be sending it to our councillors, Local TDs, our Minister for Nature and the NPWS reps as well as to local press and relevent NGOs.
Feel free to keep sharing. Many more areas have been cut since, mostly unnecessarily and all over the country....not just in County Clare! Anybody driving to Dublin from Limerick, check out the centre area of the motorway now just burnt grass which is no use at all to our pollinators and not nice to look at either! In contrast there are beautiful verges along some roads, abundant with purple loosestrife, meadow sweet and large daisies at the moment. Hopefully there will be delicate blue harebells left in some places...though much of their habitat from Lahinch to Liscannor was recently chopped back. A shout out to the village of Connolly where the verges and hedgerows were beautiful last week, though sadly the complete opposite was the case either side of the little village of Inch all the way to that gorgeous bridge. Tidy towns committees and well meaning citizens need to be better educated on the new All Ireland Pollinator Plan. We need to let people know about the new ways of looking after nature!
Thanks again for signing and sharing.
