Today the CEO of University Hospital Bristol Robert Woolley issued a public statement with an apology stating that the Trust now accepts responsibility for Ben's death. The CEO states that the failure to provide antibiotics contributed to Ben's death and they should have been given in a more timely fashion. Whilst on the surface it appears a huge step in the right direction, the apology comes two and a half years after Ben died and asks the question as to why after originally admitting these failings in 2015 did they back track and intentionally tell a Coroner a version of events that did not accept failings.
