Chennai is witnessing a worrying surge in pet dog abandonments, especially pedigree breeds over the past few weeks.

Confusion and fear around the new GCC pet licensing and ₹5,000 fine rules have pushed many families into panic, leading to heartbreaking outcomes for innocent animals.

At People For Cattle in India (PFCI), we have successfully rescued 7 abandoned pedigree dogs in just the last 20 days, including Labradors, a St. Bernard, a Chippiparai, a Doberman and more. All of them are safe now and looking for loving, forever homes.

But this crisis is bigger than any one organisation and we urge animal lovers, rescuers, fosters, and community members to share this message widely.

Let’s ensure no pet is left behind because of fear or misinformation.

PS: All the dogs featured in this video have already been rescued by PFCI and are now seeking permanent homes. If you or someone you know is interested in adopting, please reach out via whataspp @ 9884071136.
