Per Superintendent Ryan Abott, this issue will be on the school board agenda. There will be space for comment from the community. The meeting is Monday, October 20th at 7pm at the Administrative Building in Butler. Sign-up to speak begins at 6:30 or come and sit in solidarity of our students and staff. Our district recently lost the marching band program and now the after-school theater program is under scrutiny. We want our school board to know how important the Fine Arts Programs are to our students and the value they hold to our community.
If you would like to submit your comments but are unable or concerned about speaking at the meeting, you can provide them to kelly.delong@proton.me and I will get them to the board, even if you sign anonymously.
To-date the district has not provided requested records, nor shown that the play author or the copyright holder has granted permission for the students to perform the school administration's version of the play. District administration has stated that permission has been requested.
