Hi Nicole,

Thanks for your enquiry. The NSW Shark Management Program does not intend to kill sharks but rather uses a blend of technologies to mitigate against shark attacks. The primary objective of the program is water user safety but done in a way that minimises harm to sharks and other marine species. An important part of the program is tagging target shark species so frequent net inspections and automated line notifications enable most sharks to be caught, tagged and released.
