This is the Autobahn Notlandeplatz A29 Ahlhorn highway strip in Germany that doubles as a road/emergency airstrip to maintain aviation safety in the absence of any other landing area. The Eyre Highway in NT is also used as an emergency landing airstrip by the RFDS. (Royal Flying Doctors Service) Still no response from Mayor Steve Wass yet. I called Kingborough Council and left a message for Sarah the media spokesperson. Tony Ferrier Deputy General Manager 03 6211 8292 is apparently handling the project but away on leave. I called Bill Morgan Bruny Island Supervisor ‭0409 191 719‬ and left message to call back. Nothing yet. Nearly 1000 signatories! It would a real pity to deny Bruny Island future air transport options. I was in Hawaii recently. Every island in the Hawaiian Archipelago has at least 2-3 airports some of the 7 islands just miles apart not unlike Bruny Island from Tas. There are no daily car ferries anymore only shipping. Phone: Kingborough 03 6211 8200 | Bruny 03 6293 1139.
