Stop blunting the beaks of parrots.

The Issue

Recently, we have heard about a popular procedure called "blunting the beak". We aren't talking about filing a flaking beak or overgrown beak. We are talking about the practice of CUTTING off the end of the beak to stop a bird from biting. We have seen & heard about several birds that have been traumatized by this inhumane practice! It is cruel & no bird should ever been subjected to this horrible pain. If you have a bird that is biting, there are plenty of other options to stop this behavior without purposely injuring your bird. If this is a procedure that has been suggested to you PLEASE reconsider. No one with empathy or compassion would ever do this. We offer compassionate grooming but this horrific practice will never be offered at our location.
I'm sorry to be fired up about this but the amount of injured and traumatized birds we have seen lately from bad advice, negligent owners or people who just don't know better, has been heartbreaking. There are plenty of resources for the best care for your feathered family member. Workshops, DVDs, training, or books are all great options. If you are in over your head, please reach out. We are here to help. We are 100% about the birds.
