PLEASE HELP!!!!!
Update on the Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) next to Mattson Middle School
There were a lot of lies and ignorant comments made by our elected officials during the 9/26/23 King County Land Use Committee meeting.
One comment made by Sarah Perry about our concerns about how loud BESS are really showed absolute negligence and showed that they have not paid any attention to the fact presented to all of the King County Council about noise BESS make...
Sarah Perry said, "It is a complex and evolving field and community engagment especially in moments like this is foundational to effective policy making.
Uh I am a big fan of leaning in with strong concerns where they're valid where they've been substantiated and of learning more where concerns aren't merrited by the facts at hand
which can only that only this these concerns can only be addressed by by learning more and then realizing that in fact that area may not be a concern
An example of that is the noise noise ordinance there was a feedback that it was going to be sooooo loud in fact we have an unincorporated noise ordinance you have to be able to have a conversation next to each other while standing next to a best site These are things that you know just information that comes forward and we want to make sure we're addressing these one by one"
She literally said that NOISE is not a merited/valid concern with BESS????
And, there is a noise ordinance in place will magically stop the noise created by BESS????
She has no idea, but she should, as I've sent her BESS noise level studies at least 5 times. Evidently BESS noise studies that show BESS putting off between 90db and up to 106db isn't a concern...
In the Covington City Council meeting, when a Council member asked Tenaska what would happen if they exceeded the noise ordinance- they responded that they would pay a fine and that they planned on paying fines as a cost of doing business...
Please Email the following people the links to the BESS noise studies in the post below:

And, finally, if you heard Tenaska's Conditional Use Permit was Cancelled, you heard correctly- HOWEVER, they are moving forward with re-applying as a "utility" as King County Permitting suggested they do or they may be moving forward with getting their permit at the state level through the Washington State Energy Facility Site Evaluation Council (EFSEC) in which Jay Inslee has final say and can approve the site regardless to any laws/impacts/risks- he has THE final say in approval...
We will get another chance at making official public comment when they post the Proposed Land Use Signs
