Dear all,
Barnet Post and Harrow online both carry an interview with petition organiser Joan Roselie discussing why the petition came about. The interview is here:
The journalist puts the interview with us first and then gave Barnet Homes the right to reply. It is clear that Barnet Homes were unprepared a discussion on the lack of service their organisation has provided together with the dangers they have left residents exposed to. That Barnet Homes justify their wasted financial investment, that they have no answer to the fact that they have not upkept the communal area, and that they are including terms that are not in the estate maintenance contract is of deep concern. We will be following up on their claims of supplying utilities to the estate with a full breakdown of services.
It is unacceptable for both Barnet Council and Barnet Homes to place new development over existing amenities.
We are hoping to attend a local government cabinet meeting on 5th September (tbc) to put forward a deputation. If successful, we will discuss Barnet Council's Agenda Point Our Plan for Barnet -Delivery and Outcomes framework under sub heading safer neighbourhood.
We are also looking to work with other resident groups and key stakeholders in the neighbourhood to reach a common goal that we can present to Barnet Council.
