Thanks to the 6,000+ who signed the petition demanding the Highland Park public library reinstate its “P is for Palestine: A Palestine Alphabet Book” event that it had canceled under pressure from Israel supporters. Due in part to your support, on Tuesday, June 5, the library announced it will reschedule the event “at a time that is mutually acceptable to the author and the Library.” We applaud the library’s decision, and will report the new date as soon as it is announced (click on the links to read the Jewish Voice for Peace - Central NJ and Palestine Legal library statements).
Apartheid Israel’s enablers did their best to silence freedom for Palestine. But by acting together, we won!
Thanks also to Palestine Legal, ACLU - NJ, and the Center For Constitutional Rights for their efforts, to “P is for Palestine” author Golbarg Bashi, to JVP - Central NJ for sponsoring the original event, and to the organizations that co-sponsored the petition:
Al-Awda NY: The Palestine Right to Return Coalition
American Muslims for Palestine - NJ
Council on American-Islamic Relations - NJ
Jews for Palestinian Right of Return
People's Organization for Progress
Samidoun: Palestinian Prisoner Solidarity Network
