Hello everyone and thank you so much for signing this petition. If you live on or near the Mornington Peninsula, there is a community forum to help prevent back beach tragedies such as that involving Jona Kinivuwai.

On Monday September 16th, 7pm-8.30pm, people are invited to the Boardriders clubhouse at 691 Truemans Road in Fingal.

On this evening you can put forward any ideas you have to help stop drownings - from specific signage (on beaches, freeways, etc) to other kinds of messaging (Airbnb welcome packs, social media, etc), to training in surf rescue and CPR, to installing rescue devices.

You'll also hear from various life saving services, Mornington Peninsula Shire Council, SES, Ambulance Victoria, Police, Parks Vic, about what action they are taking.

The idea is to start actioning the quickest things before summer and work towards some of the other ideas that take longer to implement.

If you can make it, it would be helpful if you can RSVP so that the council can keep an eye on numbers (and best prepare for the sausage sizzle!)
