It has been 4 years since the birth of this petition, and Honey Birdette and the shopping centers that enable their porn inspired advertising is still at large.

Recently, we've had great help from PhD candidate and mum-of-three Sharon Coulton, but she needs your help to stop Honey Birdette’s porn-themed ads in family friendly shopping centres.

Sharon recently took action in her community, leading to the takedown of a BDSM-choking themed video from Honey Birdette’s shop windows at Broadway Sydney. The highly triggering ad sparked widespread community backlash for its embedded message that violence against women is ‘sexy’ and women enjoy being choked. We know that choking is a red flag for rising domestic abuse and femicide - so much that a dedicated choking trauma survivor centre was recently opened in Brisbane. 

While she sees the ad’s removal as a win for her community, Sharon believes more must be done. She’s calling for a nationwide boycott of all shopping centres which host a Honey Birdette store from July 1-15. Sharon wants to send Honey Birdette’s landlords an urgent message to stop hosting Honey Birdette’s harmful, objectifying, porn-style ads in our communities.
