"Gay panic" laws - utterly disgraceful
Nov 4, 2016 — Right now you could get away with murder if you say a gay man came on to you under QLD law. It’s utterly disgraceful.
Having a man killed in my own church yard in Maryborough, and the killer using this defence in court was horrifying and wrong.
Now, I'm worried the QLD Premier won't keep the government's promise to scrap it this year. There's only 3 weeks left of parliament sitting and there's no word on when they will pass laws to end this homophobic law. Will you help quickly today - just send an email asking Premier Palaszczuk to honour the commitment to END GAY PANIC LAWS in 2016:
Email - firstname.lastname@example.org
I’m still fighting to end this offensive law and I won't give up. Wayne’s killers got manslaughter, not murder after this “gay panic” defence was brought up in court.
QLD must follow through with their promise.
Thanks for your help,
Father Paul Kelly
