Well, I wasn't expecting such an amazing response so thank you to everyone who has signed and shared the petition so far! It really shows how important this issue is.
I know many of you are involved in rescuing and rehoming pets or have adopted animals that had become unwanted, neglected or abandoned. Picking up the pieces of misunderstood animals sold irresponsibly and purchased on a whim is a daily job for some and it is heartbreaking.
At this time of year, all advertised pets are at risk of being purchased as Christmas presents. Some breeders and private sellers go as far as advertising the animals as ready for collection on Christmas Eve. This was the case for baby rabbits on Pets4Homes a couple of days ago. Those ads should never go live in the first place. At this time of year, classified websites should suspend ALL advertising of pets to prevent impulse buying.
They are for life, not for Christmas!
I am planning to deliver the petition shortly but it would be amazing if we could get to 100,000 signatures!!
Can we do it? I think together we can!
Please keep on sharing! We can send a strong message to Pets4Homes and other classified platforms which encourage the unethical trade of pets.
Thank you so much for your amazing support.
For the animals, who should be treated like family members, and the rescuers who would like a break!
