A continuación la declaración de este post en inglés es una traducción al español amablemente llevado a cabo por un residente muy preocupado para los residentes españoles de Hondon De Las Nieves :-) Gracias :-)

The so called green Council have allowed a new Asphalt plant to be constructed within 700 Metres of a school with no consultation with the residents or environmental studies carried out. Nor have they made their intentions known to the residents who are up in arms at the fact that this is a B type of industrial installation which the laws of Spain stipulate must not be built within 2 Kilometres of a residential area. There is a school within 700 Metres with young children. The Council need to take note at a meeting in the Village hall last night about 120 people attended, 50% Spanish and 50% foreign residents of the Village. The concern is air pollution and damage to our health, pollution to the grapevines of the area. Detriment to the tourist industry and the environmental damage due to the chemicals and extra lorries. The council need to listen and take note that they were elected on a green agenda and now seem to have turned that policy on its head by allowing without prior consultation or impact studies to a very dangerous high risk industry. This will cause environmental damage to its residents and its unique grape growing, almonds and Olives in what is an agricultural area agriculture of importance to the Spanish life.  The council need to be made to rethink this and be forced to make environmental studies which should have been carried out prior to any testing or installation of working and being so called tested installation which will have no financial gain to the residents, only to the people that own the company. The downside is that it is the residents urban life and their farming community which is threatened as well as the health of the People, including children and old people that are especially at risk from lung problems and contamination of the soil and agriculture of a dangerous class B industry being forced upon them. This must be investigated by higher government and stopped.

El Ayuntamiento de Hondón de las Nieves ha dado licencia a la construcción de una planta asfáltica a tan sólo 700m de la población sin una apropiada consulta pública y sin completar los preceptivos estudios medioambientales. Según la legislación española y europea, las emisiones a la atmósfera de contaminantes del tipo B, como los que emiten las plantas asfálticas deben realizarse a una distancia de 2km de los núcleos habitados.

El colegio público municipal se encuentra a tan solo 1km de la planta asfáltica. El Ayuntamiento debe tener en cuenta la opinión de los (ahora) 327 vecinos (50% españoles y 50% residentes extranjeros) que acudieron a la sesión informativa celebrada el 19 de diciembre de 2015. Nuestra preocupación primordial es: la contaminación del aire y los peligros derivados para nuestra salud, tales como subida de la presión arterial y afección de las vías respiratorias; la contaminación de las viñas y tierras de cultivo; el detrimento del turismo; el aumento en el tránsito de camiones de gran calibre y el irreparable daño medioambiental que se causaría en nuestros montes y acuíferos.

El Ayuntamiento debe también tener en cuenta que muchos de los votos recibidos en las pasadas elecciones a su favor se debieron a su Agenda Verde. El establecimiento de una industria del alto riesgo contaminante causará un daño irreparable a la población y a su excepcional cultivo de uva, almendra y oliva. Éstos son, precisamente, los elementos que identifican y definen nuestro pueblo. Debe procederse a un exhaustivo estudio del impacto medioambiental con anterioridad al inicio de cualquier actividad. De la autorización de éste tipo de instalaciones no se deriva ganancia alguna para la población, pero sí, la desertización del paraje natural y tierras de cultivo, junto con los peligros para la salud de la población, especialmente, en el caso de niños y ancianos. Debemos impedir la construcción de este tipo de plantas industriales.
