Steve Bannon has officially declared war on our First Amendment rights. In an interview with The New York Times, Bannon said: "The media should be embarrassed and humiliated and keep its mouth shut and just listen for awhile.” He continued, “The media here is the opposition party. They don't understand this country. They still do not understand why Donald Trump is the president of the United States." This is in direct opposition to the First Amendment, which guarantees freedom of the press. Our founding fathers knew that a free press was necessary to hold the government accountable and to keep the United States from becoming a tyranny. Let Bannon and the Trump Administration know that we value our rights. Already Trump has put gag orders on several federal agencies, which may be violating federal law. We need to act now before it is too late. Contact your elected officials and let them know that this is not acceptable. The erosion of rights starts gradually, and we need to act immediately.
