Thinkprogress.com reports, a coalition of Muslims, Jews, Christians, and others gathered at Lutheran Church of the Reformation in Washington, D.C. for a press conference to voice their misgivings about Trump’s administration-in-waiting. Rev. Jennifer Butler, head of progressive religious advocacy group Faith in Public Life, led the event and described Steve Bannon as a “white nationalist leader.” She said, “These unprecedented, radical appointments threaten our very democracy, and degrade our national values.” She added, “People of color, immigrants, religious minorities, and those of us who stand with them are alarmed. And as people of faith, we will stand in solidarity with our brothers and sisters.” Other speakers included Rabbi Jason Kimelman-Block of the Jewish group Bend the Arc, Rev. William Barber, a rising star within the religious left, and Khizr Khan, a “Gold Star father” and Muslim American. This resistance to Trump could not have come at a better time as our nation is in danger. Putin began bombing Syria over a year ago, and most recently Aleppo was attacked, bringing the city to complete devastation and ruin. Children's hospitals that were occupied by both staff and children receiving care for illnesses and injuries were bombed multiple times with incendiary weapons that resulted in mass hysteria and left a quarter million people without access to hospitals in a war zone. Given Trump's connections to Putin, now is the time to speak out before we have a President and an administration with innocent blood on their hands. Bannon openly refers to himself as a Leninist and an admirer of Lenin. Bolshevik Lenin is responsible for mass murders, mass deportation of people to Siberia, and gulags (forced labor camps where over 1 million perished).. Lenin killed 4 million people - men, women, and little children. He is the 5th greatest murderer of the 20th century (after Stalin, Mao, Hitler, and Chiang Kai-shek). There once was a time when Bannon's sympathies and admiration for Lenin would not have been taken lightly, and he most certainly would not have been appointed to a position of power in the White House.
