The Issue
Anti Animal Cruelty Act: Humanely treat animals that will be sacrificed to feed people across the world. The least we can do is treat these animals that have no choice how they were brought here and for what purpose by making their short lives where they are not confined in tight spaces (no room to turn around, walk or change positions), overcrowding (so many animals in such a small space they are not able to move around freely and live in filth and disease), humane euthanasia (Temple Grandine has developed very good standards provided for most of these industries)! When a company agrees to these standards they also agree to random checks to make sure they remain in compliance with these standards.
This is just a start but it has to begin somewhere!
Get a line on the product label where the supplier is shown to have agreed and comply with the above: AACA - Anti Animal Cruelty Act (would be my recommendation for a label acronym).
Reality is we can ask but people are just not going to become vegan because of these horrible practices. Many will feel bad for awhile but most will not change their diet. We speak by how we spend our money and having a simple logo or mark to show compliance to humane treatment gives people a chance to force change by buying products that have that mark! Location and supplier information should also be included so we don't have to know the barcodes that keep their anonymity.
