Stop Wetland Destruction In Salt Lake City

A Jurisdictional Wetland home to thousands of Migratory Birds in Draper Utah is about to be destroyed by uncaring SL County Officials. Beaver dams that are decades old and causing no problems are about to be torn out and the beavers killed. Doing this will drain this beautiful pond area and turn it into a large unsightly mudflat.
Studies published by the Utah Division Of Water Resources now recognises the importance of beaver dams to the health of our streams and water quality and discourages the destruction of these natural features. There are other easy alternatives to removing the dams yet the SL Co practice of destroying these wildlife areas and turning them into narrow rock lined trenches continues. PLEASE HELP US STOP THEM.
We are all furious about what SL Co is doing here. They are forcing property owners along the creek to comply with this destruction by imposing fines and penalties on us (as if we built them) for having beaver dams on our property.
This Wildlife area is a beautiful part of our neighborhood that we have enjoyed for many years. This natural wildlife area, if saved, will also soon be enjoyed by people as the walk along the new Draper City Walking Trail.
This may lost FOREVER without your support. Mayor Ben McAdams could easily declare this a Refuge Area. The city of Draper should also be very concerned about losing it.
Please show your support for this cause and email your opinion to Stephanie Withers, Assistant to Mayor Ben McAdams today. email@example.com
