Petition updateStep Free Access for Rail Users in Bedfordshire Now!

Deadline approaches for Step-Free funding applications!

Bedfordshire Rail Access Network
4 Sept 2018

Following the announcement in July that the government will be providing up to £300 million to the 'Access for All' scheme to fund access improvements at rail stations across the UK we are meeting again with Network Rail, Alistair Burt MP, Great Northern and Central Bedfordshire and Biggleswade Town Councillors this Friday (7th September).

Nominations for this funding must be sent to the Department for Transport by 16th November 2018 and the announcement for successful bids is scheduled for April 2019.

We will be discussing the nomination application for Biggleswade station, but will also be asking what is being done for other stations in Bedfordshire which remain inaccessible to disabled and elderly people and those with young children.

One of the criteria for prioritising the stations which will receive the funding is the level of community/public support for the improvements and it is therefore essential that we have as many signatures as possible on our petition to show how much step-free access is supported in Bedfordshire.

Thank you for signing this petition, we would be very grateful if you could share this petition among your family and friends and across your social media. We are almost at 11,000 signatures, it would be brilliant if we could smash this and show how much this means to the communities in Bedfordshire that have put up with inaccessible stations for far too long.

Thank again for your support. We will post a further update after the meeting.
