Fellow Stenos, We are fast approaching our goal of 1,000 signatures on our petition so that we can submit it to Stenograph.
We want to mention that we are also interested about the Society for the Technological Advancement of Reporting, or STAR, that used to be a member-driven group formed by steno software users who wanted to give input so that the product would better address reporters' needs for their CAT software. Now it's an "all methods" group and renamed Stenograph | Technology | Agencies | Reporters (STAR), so we are confused about that and wanted to know when/how the transition occurred and if we all want to bel lumped together in an “all methods” group.
This petition is an invitation for Stenograph to hold a respectful and meaningful Town Hall meeting to be transparent and answer the questions we have listed in our petition and to hear from stenos across the nation at one convenient meeting. We have outlined a lot of what we are interested in talking about so that there are no surprises and we are trying to be as open as possible.
There has been a new “Check It” tool that has been released by Stenograph, but not as an update. It’s $40 per month - $600 per year- and is not part of your yearly $730 support contract. This is a la carte. To be fair, it’s too new to comment on it but there’s already lots of different opinions being given.
