Steam: Remove the option to charge for mods and replace it with an optional donation.
The Issue
Today Steam announced that they are adding in the option for people to charge for the mods they create. It has already started to affect Skyrim and will later spread to other Steam Workshop supported games. The modding community on PC games has been an amazing pot of creativity and originality, but this decision to give the option of charging for mods is a step too far.
Many of us have already seen the horrors that is Steam Early Access, releasing unfinished and horrible piles of mess that they call games, and charge honest paying customers for them. It is a terrible atmosphere and simply money grabbing for the sake of getting money from people without having to put in too much effort. For allowing people to charge for mods you risk the same being true of Steam Workshop.
Instead of giving the option of charging real money for mods for games that people have already paid for put in a donation button, so people who enjoy the mod or the modders content which can put money into people's steam wallets or bank accounts by choice. This would stop people polluting the Workshop with paid for items and diluting the quality of mods for money.
