Stop unjustified prosecutions of parents for truancy
During the 2009-10 school year the Staunton City Schools prosecuted one parent for truancy. By the next school year the number had jumped to 20. This year so far they've prosecuted 19 parents. Of the 20 charges filed in 2010-11, eleven of them, 55%, were dismissed. That means that they were unwarranted. Eighteen of the nineteen filed this year are still pending. These unjustified prosecutions cause untold stress and misery to the parents of Staunton, they waste public money and time, and they must stop now. Breaking news on our website at http://pisste.org
