Metro Council Passes Resolution

On July 5, Nashville's Metro Council approved a resolution asking the State of Tennessee to not demolish the historic Masonic buildings, but to instead preserve them. Metro Councilmember Nancy VanReece sponsored the Resolution. The Tennessean covered the story with an article by Jen Todd. Tennessee Rep. Brenda Gilmore is leading a delegation in a meeting with state officials this afternoon July 12, officially requesting that the State not demolish the buildings. Historic Nashville board member Robbie Jones will hand-deliver a copy of the petition with nearly 1,500 signatures at this meeting.
