Let the legislators in the great State of Ohio hear your voices to preserve and defend the history of the city of Columbus. The statue of Christopher Columbus on the campus of Columbus State University has been defaced and removed thanks to rioters who seek to erase history and traditions across the country and world. A petition is now circulating to rename the city of Columbus. The number of people signing this petition is rising quickly. It's time for a counter petition so the voice of reason prevails. Let us take to heart the words of Edmund Burke in a letter written to Thomas Mercer over 200 years ago: 

“The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.”–Edmund Burke, Thoughts on the Cause of the Present Discontents 82-83 (1770) in: Select Works of Edmund Burke, vol. 1, p. 146 (Liberty Fund ed. 1999).

Likewise, we remember the Preamble to the Constitution of the United States of America, signed Sept. 17, 1787: "We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America."
