Dear Friends!
First, you rock. We are at over 75,000 signatures and on our way to 100,000! Thank you so much! Keep sharing and sending notes to us for Tiffany!
It's International Women's Day.
Today, Karana Rising is celebrating International Women's Day by standing with survivors who are facing incredible abuses at the hands of the justice system. We are doing so by taking you inside their jails, treatment programs and lives by sharing the words they can't share with the world. We have to counter this darkness by being the light shining truth on their accounts of exploitation and abuse until they can shine brightly here again with us. We also believe that their bravery deserves to be honored this holiday and every day. This is a blog about life in treatment program for a young survivor who wants you to see her. Read: Outrage: Believing Survivors Means Helping them Heal; Not Degrading Them.
It's an outrage that survivors who have already been trafficked and exploited then are arrested, charged, and mistreated all while their own justice and healing is denied. These survivors often are denied food, medication, safety within the jails, sexual assaults, beatings and a lack of justice that leads. We believe we must stand with survivors like Tiffany, Jessica and Jordan, our young blogger and so many more.
Just this week, a report shares extremely troubling news of abuses, sexual assaults and horrible crimes inside Pulaski State Prison. We are extremely concerned for Tiffany and our other brave young survivor clients whose stories are in this report. (Note: this is a very troubling report that should be read with caution).
If you feel compelled, you can help us reach more survivors by making a contribution at www.karanarising.org All proceeds this week will go toward Tiffany's legal defense where we need to raise $10,000 to support the pathway toward her freedom.
Thank you for all you do for Tiffany and survivors at Karana Rising. We can't say enough that we are grateful to you. We are a movement to advance healing and justice for survivors and you are a vital part of it.
With gratitude,
Andrea with Tiffany, Fecha, Christabelle, Alana, Ashley, Snezana, Leslie, Liz
