Update 1/20/25

For years now, I’ve been advocating for the protection of dogs from the freezing temperatures that put their lives at risk, and yet, far too many have died in Michigan in the last few days due to the lack of regulations to prevent this inhumane treatment. No dog should have to endure such suffering, and it’s heartbreaking to see the same tragedies unfold year after year.

Though I have worked with local legislators and rescues in the past, progress has been slow, and too many lives continue to be lost. As of January 2025, the situation is dire. The absence of laws to protect dogs from freezing weather is costing lives in our state—lives that could have been saved with just a little more compassion and action.

In other states, such as Indianapolis, Indiana, there are laws in place to protect animals from extreme cold—dogs are not allowed outside when the temperature drops below 20 degrees. It’s time for Michigan to adopt similar measures and protect our four-legged friends from needless suffering.

I am seeking legal guidance and support to help push this cause forward. We can do better, Michigan. Our dogs deserve a safe and humane life, free from the threat of freezing to death in our own backyards. Together, we can make a lasting change.

If you have any legal expertise or advice on how to advocate for stronger animal protection laws, please reach out. Let’s work together to ensure no more dogs suffer from this preventable fate. My personal email is clvproperties@yahoo.com

My heart is with all of our four legged friends who are sleeping outside tonight freezing and might not make it until tomorrow morning :(
