Keep Mr. Smith in Washington!
0 have signed. Let’s get to 1,000!
Passing HB 139/SCR 184 will put Republicans in the Florida legislature in bed with Black Lives Matter, and liberal Democrats in Congress like Debbie Wasserman Schultz. The Florida legislature must stand up and say "Enough is Enough"!
Deborah Wasserman Schultz wants you to disgrace and erase Florida's History and Heroes and Veterans. Don't do it!
This is a slippery slope. The process started as a knee jerk reaction to the Charleston massacre. But we have connected the dots, and we realize now that that tragedy was exploited in a War on America and her history.
There were flaws in the selection process last year that still have not been addressed.
They really don't care about Smith - he's just low hanging fruit in the War in American and her history. If you vote to remove Smith, you will be a hypocrite in standing to defend other Florida history or War Veterans memorials.
Edmund Kirby Smith is Florida's Robert E. Lee. He has been lied about and discredited by those complicit in the Democrat's resistance to Pres. Trump and American values. THEY WANT TO TAKE HIM DOWN - HE HAS GOT TO GO. Then the rest will be easy.
Why? Because Smith exemplifies everything they hate about America: God, Duty, Patriotism.
If you go along with them, you're going against the will of the people, 77% of whom, in a Statewide poll show want to Keep Smith in Washington.
THEY say "he wasn't even from Florida". THEY say "he fought 'against the Union'". THEY say he fought for 'hatred and oppression."
This is what your predecessors said when they sent him to Washington:
"Whereas, Edmund Kirby-Smith was born in St. Augustine, FL on the 16th day of May 18824, and was appointed to the United States Military Academy at West Point from the State of Florida, and graduated from that Academy in 1845, served in the Mexican War, resigning his commission of Major in the United States Army on the State seceding from the Union and served in the Confederate serves in the War Between the States, in which service he attained the rank of full General, and world-wide renown, and after the surrender of the Southern armies and the fall of the Southern Confederacy devoted his life to the education of Southern youth to his death on the 28th of March, 1893, first in the University of Nashville of which University he was Chancellor, and then in the University of the South, in which University he was professor of mathematics; and
Whereas, General Edmund Kirby Smith was a citizen of the State of Florida "illustrious for historic renown" and of "distinguished civic and military services"
-Laws of Florida Chapter 6440 No 20-1913
Dr. Alexander Darnes, former Aide to Smith and 1st Black Physician in Jacksonville provides a reference for Smith: "He was a generous, virtuous, Christian gentlemen. A brave soldier with a benevolent turn of mind."
Smith did not fight for hate and oppression as Deborah Wasserman Schultz said. He answered Florida's call of duty, as a loyal son. She and and others in the unhinged united left want him gone just like Gen. Lee, and like they intend to do to other American historical figures...if you let them.
We, the undersigned, call on you to stand up for Florida history and not cave in to the hate of our heroes, veterans and history.
