In just 3 days, nearly 30 signatures have been added. Thank you. US Representative Laura Friedman confirming that Cal VCB is under formal inquiry with the Department of Justice (DOJ) and formal complaints sent to the California State Auditors Office! I should be receiving a public records request within the next three weeks which will further corroborate all of their illegal conduct. But our work isn't done yet. Cal VCB continues to be withholding the majority of what I am legally owed. So how can you help?
First, keep sharing this petition with everyone you know! I would like to get over 1,000 signatures to ensure this receives attention. Keep tagging all your local, state, and federal politicians on social media. Even though this is a California agency, they receive funding under the Victims of Crime Act (VOCA), which means both Congress and the DOJ have every right to investigate. Call and email me your local, state, and federal politicians too. But admittedly, the best way to get a response is Certified USPS restricted delivery with a return receipt, as this makes a communication legally proven under the law. It costs a little extra, but it's EXTREMELY effective.
Second, I am creating the first ever march/protest against Cal VCB. I have never made a picket sign or hosted one and could use some help. I will be marching outside Cal VCB HQ and The Capitol to protest this conduct in Sacramento. I'm really nervous to do this and will need your love and support to stay strong as I take on a government agency abusing thousands of survivors of violence just to get out of paying what they legally me, many survivors like me. I could use help getting to Sacramento and the logistics of hosting a march.
Third and finally, I hate to ask, but if you can please donate to the petition or GoFundMe. Right now, I am spending what little remains of my 401k just to have living expenses and take legal action against Cal VCB. To those who know me personally, it hasn't been easy, financially or emotionally. Behind my jokes, my smiles, there has been profound pain. In fact, I am sorry to share this, but I think the world needs to know how Cal VCB hurts people and what happens when they fail to do their job. In February 2025, I made an attempt on my own life. Among other things, I hated myself for being a victim again. I hated that a government agency was intentionally abusing me and people like me. And in a moment of profound despair, tried to end everything. Thankfully, I got help....but others like me may not be so lucky. I'm sure that Cal VCB has let other victims die due to their misconduct. What happened to me can't be undone, but I need to know no other survivors will ever be abused by Cal VCB eve again.
