This afternoon Dr. Alie Kabba walked out of the dungeon of Pademba Road Prison in Freetown, Sierra Leone, after his lawyers and SLPP leaders were allowed to post bail for a politically-motivated charge against him. But be assured that Dr. Kabba will not be free for long because the restrictions imposed on him will be violated as they impinge on his dignity and freedom.
The Government of Sierra Leone headed by President Ernest Bai Koroma has requested Dr. Kabba to surrender his US Passport and all other travel documents including his return ticket to the United States. They have further asked him to refrain from making any public statements or holding radio and television interviews.
We want to assure the people of Sierra Leone and the international community that this illegal gag order will not be adhered to because Dr. Alie Kabba is a fighter for social justice, equality and the dignity of all mankind, but especially that of the people of Sierra Leone. He will continue to campaign on the issues that matter to the people of Sierra Leone without fear.
I want to thank all of you who stood by us during this challenging moment. Be assured that your stance against tyranny is a universal stance for human dignity and freedom of conscience.
Thank you and Happy Holidays to you and your families.
