The city of Sunnyvale has opened up a survey for the community to choose the location of the first free pickleball courts in Sunnyvale. If you're a Sunnyvale resident, please vote for Serra Park as 1st choice and Encinal Park as 2nd choice!

This recommendation is based on visits to the proposed locations and experience of what works in other cities.

Serra and Encinal are the only locations with 2 tennis courts, meaning enough space for 6 to 8 pickleball courts and building a vibrant community. Serra is preferred because it has more parking, larger and less worn playing area, better lighting, and less wind.

Do NOT vote for Fair Oaks Park (50 ft from housing, would be terrible noise for neighbors), Washington Park (space for only 4 pickleball courts due to lighting pole placement, close to housing), Ortega Park (space for only 3 pickleball courts)

In addition, you can write a free form comment. For example, you can mention the following: you play pickleball; you want pickleball on 2 tennis courts in the same location rather than spread out on 2 separate locations so that we can build a community of players; and you want the courts to be 100% dedicated to pickleball rather than shared with tennis as there are currently 36 free tennis courts but 0 free pickleball courts in Sunnyvale. Feel free to mention anything else from your pickleball experience!

Just like this petition was instrumental in getting the city to budget funds to stripe pickleball lines, your vote is critical to get pickleball courts at a good location. Make your voice heard and spread the word with your friends on the courts! The last day to fill out the survey is TODAY before 5pm.
