Today Psychology Today published Professor John Read updates and summaries on the campaign to audit ECT information leaflets in the UK and Ireland in the article entitled Patients Are Still Misinformed About Electroconvusive Therapy.
We're grateful to Dr. Read for his tireless, international efforts to sound a clarion call of ECT's immediate and long-term consequences.
We stand with Dr. Read in the right to make informed treatment choices based on accurate and up-to-date information. We reiterate the desperate need for researching the long-term consequences of repetitive traumatic brain injury caused by ECT's repetitive electrical injury. We also emphasize the need for researchers to develop rehabilitation interventions to improve quality of life after ECT.
