One of Australia's states banned LGBTQ Conversion therapy. "The discredited practice of conversion therapy can include electroconvulsive therapy (ECT), forced isolation, aversion therapy, food deprivation, hormone therapy, talk therapy and hypnotherapy."

Hopefully doctors recognize that ECT is also a discredited practice based on an thorough assessment of all randomized control trials to verify whether they met criteria for modern clinical randomized control trials. None of them met modern criteria. Researchers (including the associate director of placebo trials at Harvard University, Dr. Irving Kirsch) concluded ECT should be suspended immediately barring proof that it's effective--because there are no clinical trials with a placebo arm which prove the risk of permanent brain damage as outlined in the Thymatron ECT device manufacturer's user manual which cites the APA.

We applaud Victoria for "establish[ing] powerful mechanisms to deal with incredibly harmful practices that LGBTQ+ people have, for too long, endured across Victoria," We hope they closely examine the harmful practices inflicted upon all psychiatric patients prescribed ECT which has NEVER been safety tested using modern clinical parameters for use on humans and has absolutely no safety limits or regulations to protect humans from 900 mA current repeatedly applied to the brain.
