Beatty Cohan, a nationally recognized Social Worker who hosts her own New York-Based weekly talk show, invited me to discuss my perspective on electroconvulsive therapy. She worked hard to provide a balanced perspective--for which I'm grateful because normally the negative side is silenced.

I was caught of guard because I didn't realize I should be sharing my experience and knowledge along side a psychiatrist who advocates for ECT use. If you want to hear a Psychiatrist talk about the benefits of ECT followed by a patient who's had it...that didn't feel the same way the doctor does, this is the perfect episode! I was very grateful for the opportunity to share my real-life experiences with her audience.

After the show, Beatty called me and we spoke for an entire hour! Later I received an email stating that she wanted to have another show and discuss the issue further.

I'm so grateful for Dr. John Breeding and his willingness to champion the rights of ECT survivors. I became so emotional during the talk, that I began to physically shake and loose my speech. Right at that moment, John took the baton and ran with it. He reiterated critical things that weren't previously emphasized. He also took the torch and spoke strongly about the work he's done to help survivors get recognition and appropriate support afterwards.

Thank you Beatty for giving ECT survivors the opportunity to share their story! Together we will help others get Brain Injury rehabilitation. I look forward to our next episode.

Please be sure to listen to the episode, share it with a friend. Leave a comment on what stood out to you the most about this discussion.
