Will You Please Help Support our Campaign for the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence?
Following the COVID19 pandemic, there have been increasing emotional and mental health challenges that were triggered by long periods of isolation for acid attack violence survivors already experiencing ostracism in their communities. Survivors have continued to request that we resume the psychosocial support activities to help them cope with life challenges. This is an activity that we held every month to provide space for peer to peer support but due to the pandemic, we ran short of resources to continue this very critical piece of our work.
With increasing appeals from survivors, a generous donor like you is helping CERESAV raise funds to provide a platform for peer support and launch a national campaign during the 2024 international 16 days of activist against gender based violence which happen every year from November 25th which is the International Day to Eliminate Violence against women, to December 10th which is the World Peace Day.
CERESAV's theme is "16 Days of Activism, 16 Different Faces of Violence" to unveil the depth of this hidden horrendous act of human terrorism using the power of storytelling.
The mission of this project is to conduct different events to raise awareness of the impact of acid attack violence on different individuals by bringing together different media companies, the public, stakeholders, and policymakers to advocate for survivors’ rights, sensitize the masses, and empower the survivors through sharing their stories and experiences with the public.
Your donation is needed to support this campaign by facilitating the following activities:
- Transportation for survivors from across Uganda
- Meals and accommodation of survivors from across Uganda
- Securing protected airtime on national TV and Radio platforms
- Facilitate Monthly Support Group Meetings
- Storytelling cafes to build confidence for survivors to own their narrative
