To all of our change.org supporters:
We greatly appreciate your solidarity with the CERESAV team in fighting the injustices of acid attack violence and rebuilding hope for the different survivors. With you, we are shining a light in the face of evil. In Kato's words; "I truly appreciate the generosity everyone has shown me. although my perpetrator was not convicted, at least I have an opportunity to live a better life again. I did not expect to have such an opportunity when all this happened to me. I am so grateful for the love, support and prayers".
We are pleased to share updates about Kato's trip to India with you.
Kato is recovering well from the eyelid reconstruction surgery. Thank you so much for your support, he is finally able to close his right eye after almost a year of irritation and migraine headaches. Unfortunately his vision cannot be restored due to damaged nerves from the acid burns. We appreciate continued prayers for successful healing and recovery so we can at least look at option of a prosthetic eye.
Kato and his caretaker will be returning to Uganda on March 14. He is required to wear the pressure garment you see in the photo for quite sometime to help with softening the scar tissue as he heals. He will then be going back to India after a couple of months of healing for hair transplant and eye prosthesis. We couldn't have achieved all this without your support. We solely depend on your solidarity for us to be able to make such accomplishments for our patients.
