Our dear change.org supporters: We wish to bring to your attention the importance of your support. When you signed our first petition, the CERESAV team gained rigorous media attention which increased the momentum and pressure. It was a time of national presidential elections. We had pushed for the passing of that bill for long periods of time with no success. But with your support, with your signatures, the president of Uganda in the midst of pressure signed the Toxic chemicals prohibition and control bill into law. Your signatures took the toxic chemicals prohibition control petition to the Malala movement Fund. But that was not strong enough to address the problem of Acid attack violence in Uganda. Ever since the passing of the toxic chemicals prohibition and control law, CERESAV has received numerous Acid attack cases some of whom you have supported. Some of the victims died leaving behind helpless families. We even have a new case that was reported to CERESAV just a week ago. We have continued to advocate for a specific Acid attacks control bill through the media ever since the Toxic chemicals prohibition control law was passed. You have stood with us all through the tough times. We celebrated victory together with the first petition. We now ask you to stand with us on this new petition that is specifically asking the parliament of Uganda to pass an acid attack control law. We have heard tremendous reductions in attacks from counties like Bangladesh that have passed such specific laws. Please join us to ask the parliament of Uganda to pass an acid attack control law. Let us take the 280,253 signatures to the new petition: https://www.change.org/p/uganda-parliament-join-the-movement-to-stop-acid-attack-violence-in-uganda-pass-the-acid-attack-violence-bill?source_location=minibar Together we can take this petition to victory. Together we can save the next victim. The CERESAV Team
