PHI THETA KAPPA GOT A GAG ORDER TO STOP MY BOOK – BUT THEY WON’T STOP THE TRUTH! #WhatIsPTKHiding?
I am hiring a First Amendment lawyer not just to protect my right to speak openly about what I believe to be serious misconduct and abuse within PTK, but to safeguard everyone’s right to share and receive truthful evidence and testimony without fear of censorship. Protecting these fundamental legal rights is costly, and PTK has shown it is prepared to invest heavily in keeping these accounts from coming to light—a fact that should concern us all.

I’m Toni Marek — a U.S. Army veteran, whistleblower, and advocate for transparency. I’ve spoken out for over a decade about serious concerns surrounding Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) — including sexual harassment, workplace retaliation, misleading scholarship marketing, and harmful organizational practices.
On April 3, I was set to release my book: Saving PTK: The Whistleblower’s Fight for Truth and Change
- It reveals what PTK doesn't want you to know:
- My story of sexual harassment and retaliation
- First-hand accounts from former PTK employees
- Public records and FOIA documents exposing internal issues and concerns
But PTK went to court — without notifying me — and obtained a temporary restraining order from a Victoria, Texas judge (a former partner at PTK’s law firm). That order blocks me from publishing or distributing my book until PTK reviews it — a textbook example of prior restraint.
📨 One document I intended to reference in the book — a public record email obtained through a FOIA request — discusses internal matters relating to how PTK leadership talks about student scholarship numbers.
That documented evidence exists, was lawfully obtained, and raises issues I believe students and the public have a right to know.
PTK did not dispute the core facts — only called the book ‘unflattering.’
That says everything. WHAT IS PTK HIDING FROM YOU?
Over 17,000 people have spoken out — former PTK employees, student members, and parents — sharing stories of bullying, broken scholarship promises, and deceptive marketing. Many say they were misled about being in the “top 10%,” paid for benefits they never received, or witnessed a toxic culture fueled by fear and retaliation. These aren’t isolated stories — they’re a pattern. And they deserve to be heard.
But PTK doesn’t want you to hear them. So they got a court to stop me.
