On January 5, 2026 Frank Corva published an article with Bitcoin Magazine detailing how unhinged federal prosecutors from the Southern District of New York violated Executive Order 14233 during the Samourai Wallet case. The full article can be read here. The Executive Order stipulates that bitcoin obtained by the government through forfeiture will be kept in the Strategic Bitcoin Reserve. As part of the plea agreement in the Samourai Wallet case, developers Keonne Rodriguez and William Hill handed over roughly 57 bitcoin  to US Marshalls, worth approximately $6.3 million at the time. This bitcoin was sold immediately for US dollars thus violating Trump's executive order and highlighting the reckless and lawless actions of unhinged federal prosecutors who believe they can do anything they want with impunity. Senator Cynthia Lummis brought attention to the issue on twitter and many in the community are calling for investigations into the SDNY, with some going as far as calling for the SDNY to be abolished. Violating the Executive Order is only the tip of the ice berg for the questionable behavior from SDNY federal prosecutors in the Samourai Wallet case. With new light being shed on the actions of these prosecutors, keep spreading the message to pardon Bill and Keonne.
