We want to express how grateful and thankful we are that nearly 600 people feel that what we are going through is unjust and racially biased and signed this petition. We may not know each of you individually but we genuinely appreciate the signature of support!
Today, we wanted to let all of our supporters know that our civil court hearing date is coming on up Tuesday, December 4th at 10 am in Cibola County District Court, Judge Rael's courtroom. We are asking that anyone in the state of New Mexico and surrounding states that are able to make our court date please come out to show us support in-person. We don't have any blood relatives in the state of New Mexico and since we've been here less than 2 years we know a limited amount of people. Most all of the people we know are great people who have expressed to us that they don't agree with what we are going through. However, we need the support of our new local family and friends to come out and show Cibola County Sheriff's Department and District Court that racial discrimination, harassment, and hatred toward people that look different will not be accepted in Cibola County or the State of New Mexico. Our voices cannot be the only voices speaking out against injustice on December 4th, we need the support of the community to show Cibola County that this type of illegal business is unacceptable!
Additionally, the last time we showed up to Cibola County District Court alone, our accusers and their supporters harassed us outside the courthouse, inside the courtroom and caused both parties to have to be escorted from their car. We had to get a court officer to keep these people from talking to us and harassing us in the courtroom and even after we moved seats at the request of the court officer, we were followed by our accusers' supporters and further taunted in the court. On this day, Judge Rael made it clear that both parties need to stay away from each other. This directive was a result of our notifying the court that our accusers and people from the Confederate Militia/Clan in the Mujeres Ranch Subdivision have been caught on camera coming down our private road at 4 am on different days. We have plenty of reason to believe that some of these same supporters will be in the courtroom again for our civil hearing because they are the ones who made the calls and sent emails to the person who is trying to evict us off the land, asking what they can do to keep people like us out of the subdivision and telling Santa Rita Land and Cattle Company that they would do "whatever it takes to kick them off their land and take it from them." What does that behavior sound like? It sounds like that of the same colonizers that took these indigenous lands from the people who were living on them, JUST LIKE US.
The whole reason we followed spirit and our hearts out to New Mexico was because we had been so thoughtful about all the moves we made in the past and this time we wanted to let our ancestors and spirit guides show us where we are needed in order to start healing the generational trauma our families have both been through. Daniel's family has roots in sharecropping and slavery through the white, brown and black roots he shares. And Cristina's ancestors used to live on this land hundreds and hundreds of years ago, this is exactly where we are supposed to be to expose the hate of ignorance and change how people of color are treated in New Mexico and how they are treated in general when it comes to owning the same or more land than that of our white neighbors. We should be allowed to purchase in the same areas and for fair prices without having to worry about a clan or militia singling them out and putting their lives and families at risk. We will not rest until all the voices of those who have been unjustly treated, violated and harassed for being different are heard and respected throughout the nation!
