The Issue

Corruption can weaken public trust and affect the delivery of services that communities depend on. When public resources are not managed transparently and responsibly, citizens may lose confidence in government institutions.

The Philippine government has established laws and institutions intended to promote integrity and accountability in public service. The Office of the Ombudsman, for example, has the authority to investigate complaints involving government officials and employees when evidence warrants action.

As students and members of the community, we believe that promoting transparency and accountability is an important part of responsible citizenship.

What We Are Asking For
Through this petition, we call for stronger support for:

Transparent use of public funds and resources
Accessible and understandable government financial information
Proper auditing and monitoring of government projects
Accountability for proven acts of corruption, following due process and the law
Protection and proper handling of complaints and reports concerning suspected misconduct
Greater public education about government accountability and anti-corruption laws
We are not asking people to accuse individuals without evidence. Instead, we encourage citizens to support lawful, evidence-based processes for reporting, investigating, and addressing suspected corruption.

Why This Matters
Public office is legally treated as a public trust, and Philippine law establishes mechanisms for addressing graft and corruption. The Ombudsman Act of 1989 states that the government should maintain honesty and integrity in public service and take measures against graft and corruption.

Transparency allows citizens to better understand how public resources are being used. Accountability ensures that allegations are investigated through appropriate procedures and that proven wrongdoing can be addressed under the law.

By signing this petition, we are expressing support for transparency, responsible public service, and lawful accountability.

Call to Action
If you support greater transparency and accountability in public service, you may sign this petition and share it with others.

Together, students and citizens can promote awareness of responsible governance and encourage the proper use of public resources.
