Stand by Due Process. Stand by Your Own Findings.

Dear Members of Council,

We, the undersigned, are writing to express our profound concern over renewed efforts to remove Dr. Jonathan Mayer as President-Elect of the Ontario Dental Association.

After complaints were raised, the ODA undertook a thorough review and commissioned an independent legal task force. That process concluded that Dr. Mayer had not engaged in hate speech and recommended that he remain in office. The Board accepted those findings and voted accordingly.

Yet despite this extensive review, outside organizations continue to demand that the matter be revisited in pursuit of a different outcome.

This issue extends beyond one individual. It concerns the integrity of your institution and the principle that professional organizations must not be governed by relentless pressure campaigns. Investigations and due process lose all meaning if decisions are reopened until politically favoured outcomes are achieved.

Many Jewish healthcare professionals and members of the public are watching these events with growing concern. Repeated attempts to remove a Jewish leader after he has already been cleared by the ODA's own process send a troubling message about fairness, equal treatment, and belonging.

We respectfully urge you to:

• Uphold the findings of the independent legal review.

• Reject efforts to override due process through repeated external pressure.

• Allow Dr. Jonathan Mayer to serve in the position to which he was elected.

• Demonstrate that the Ontario Dental Association remains committed to fairness, institutional independence, and equal standards for all.

The credibility of your organization depends upon your willingness to stand by your own processes, even when doing so is difficult.
