Words cannot express how grateful we are for the outpouring of support and turnout for this petition we received. I never thought it would get this far. From the bottom of our hearts, Thank you.
In the end, the judge would not consider or accept the petition into his decision making or court record. But it still gave us the strength and buoy we needed to speak in front of the judge, the attacker and his defense counsel and team knowing how many people stood behind us. And I could say we have 6,400 plus signatures of those in support!
But, we WON! Mental Health Diversion was denied. Based on his past, the severity of violence and most importantly his concern to keep the community safe.
I decided not to close the petition. We still have a long road ahead of us as we head to criminal court. I think the more signatures the better to raise awareness with so many more court hearings ahead. But please no donations (thank you for all those that donated). Please keep sharing our story. It only helps the demand for public safety. Thank you for being a part of this beautiful community.
Forever Thank You,
Brooke and Luke
