Free Dr. FlegeCincinnati, OH, United States

When it comes to the elderly, the system errs by omission. If a senior dies under suspicious circumstances, there’s no guarantee anyone will ever investigate. Catherine Hawes, a Texas A&M health-policy researcher who has studied elder abuse for the U.S. Department of Justice, described the issue as 'A HIDDEN NATIONAL SCANDAL.'" Abusers can be assured they are unlikely to be caught. It's time for that to change. PLEASE CALL THE HAMILTON COUNTY CORONER'S OFFICE AND TELL THEM THAT WE WILL NOT TOLERATE ANOTHER "GONE WITHOUT A CASE". DO IT FOR THE NEXT POTENTIAL VICTIM. SEND A MESSAGE TO ELDER ABUSERS, AND THOSE THAT ENABLE THEM, THAT THERE ARE CONSEQUENCES. (513) 946-8700 Dr. Flege has been the victim of all the major categories of elder abuse: 1. Physical Abuse -Broken bones -- including 2 broken hips in less than a year, under suspicious circumstances, while under the care of others. The first occurred at Marjorie P. Lee and the second at The Kenwood by Senior Star, both in Cincinnati Ohio. -Bruising. Frequent pushing and shoving of both Dr. Flege AND aides by abusers. -Sprains -OVERMEDICATION -- Many instances. At times he spit the medications out claiming they made him fall. He was often then forced to take them. These psychoactive drugs resulted in sudden changes in his personality and behavior and he became a serious fall risk. -He frequently reported mistreatment. 2. Sexual Abuse: -Reports that his daughter repeatedly fondled him in the bathtub and shower while his caregiver was helping him bathe. This upset him and he demanded that she leave. 3. Emotional or Psychological Abuse -Repeated insults and humiliation. -Intimidation and Harassment. Dr. Flege and aides were prohibited from calling 911 during emergencies. -Treated like a child and prohibited from engaging in activities that he enjoyed. Frequently referred to as "a two year old" in his presence. -Social Isolation -- including being denied a telephone. Placed in various facilities distant from his home neighborhood to assure isolation. -Frequently uncommunicative, unresponsive and withdrawn when abusers present. -Agitated and upset in the presence of his abusers. 4. Neglect -Denied amenities that he can afford. Despite having 24/7 private duty care and significant financial resources, he was caged in tiny rooms at various facilities. These were lockdown facilities and he was rarely permitted outings except to see doctors. -Denied care that he can afford, including intensive physical and psychological therapy. -He reportedly made several calls to 911, attempting to report is own kidnapping. He claimed "not even the police would help him". Police were shoed away by his abusers and nursing home staff. 5. Abandonment After frequent reassurances by his wife that she would not leave him, he was deserted in a Memory Care unit and then frequently moved to other facilities, "off roster", in an attempt to cover up abuse and hide him from friends and family. -The victim reportedly made several reports to 911, and others, indicating that he wanted to go home. 6. Financial Abuse -His daughter repeatedly raided his home for objects as she saw fit. -There are reports of forged signatures on documents. -He was coerced to sign documents he was not given time to read and understand. -There has been power of attorney abuse -He received substandard care when he can afford better. -He was prohibited from involvement with his own money. For years, he was not permitted to attend meetings regarding his finances. He complained about this. 7. Self-neglect -His living conditions have been highly inadequate considering his income. -He has been denied privacy in visits. His iPhone was confiscated. -He has been denied prompt care of medical aids like hearing aids, glasses, canes and monitoring devices. PLEASE CALL THE HAMILTON COUNTY CORONER'S OFFICE AND TELL THEM THAT WE WILL NOT TOLERATE ANOTHER "GONE WITHOUT A CASE". DO IT FOR THE NEXT POTENTIAL VIICTIM. SEND A MESSAGE TO ELDER ABUSERS, AND THEIR ENABLERS, THAT THERE ARE CONSEQUENCES. (513) 946-8700
