Munchausen's Syndrome by Proxy, A Form of Elder Abuse

Munchausen's Syndrome by Proxy is a form of elder abuse. A family member may fabricate, exaggerate, or induce mental or physical health problems in those who are in their care, with the primary motive of gaining attention. Health care providers are in a position to screen for this scenario. Some, in this case, may be "blinded by the money". The perpetrators are in control of the victim's financial resources, some of which may ultimately benefit the clinicians' institutions.
