The Bad News First....
The June 13th Protest/Awareness Day (PADS) will not go ahead. I don’t think we will get enough people and it allows me to save some money to buy some more gear ( I’ve ordered pens and we need more T shirts)....
BUT.........I have thought of a way around the Liability Insurance...
Hopefully the good News.....
WHAT IF ??????
On the same day as the Sydney Protest/Awareness Day (12th September) and each Sydney PADS, people from different states meet in their city centre at a place to be decided, a well known place.
They all wear Orange T shirts (preferably one with “Stand Against Live Animal Exports”) on it, . I can afford for maybe 2/3 people in each state to have a sign (not a big one) and the people who attend can either do a conga line walk through the city or meet in a group and just stand around with placards that I’ll supply .
I’m thinking this way no one has organised it, so not liability insurance is required, it is just like minded people meeting in the city, wearing the same or similar T shirts standing around. You would not be handing anything out but it would still be advertising Live Exports and hopefully engage people.
I know we need to ramp this up, we seriously need to get more people involved and on the same train as us, we need to get rid of these governments who ignore or excuse the abuse.
It would be great if I could have 2 people from each state that can possibly be the holders of the stickers and who will be the person the police speak to if they are called. (These 2 people will have the stickers to hand out after the meet so each person can then take them and distribute them further).
If they police are called it needs to be stated “this is not a protest or demonstration, we just want to support the Sydney crew by meeting in the city with our shirts on...it’s just a group of people meeting in the city....
I will send stickers etc to 1-2 people per state.
They will distribute these after the PADS so they can be placed out and about in their home town area.
I feel we may be able to get away with this.
But I’m either going to ask you to buy an Orange T shirt or if you want you can buy a Stand Against Live Export T shirt from me, however I want people to understand “I’m in no way pushing for people to buy a SALE T shirt, I do think having everyone in a Orange T shirt though makes sense, uniformity tends to raise more curiosity and interest in what WE are all about....
